Regular Hoops is my tribute to basketball — a sport that continues to enrich my life.
What’s the Concept?
Basketball fans have unrealized “basketball dreams.”
They seek to impact culture but struggle to find their voice. So I created Regular Hoops (@regularhoops), a brand connecting basketball fans to basketball culture.
Currently, Regular Hoops produces digital content that empowers individuals to feel like their favorite players. This feeling of inclusion is missing in today's basketball landscape as mainstream sport media outlets exclusively feature the top high school, collegiate, and professional athletes.
In the future, Regular Hoops could be a production company, agency, and/or lifestyle brand.
But at every stage, the focus is to build (1) communities, (2) content ecosystems, and (3) brand relationships.
How did it start?
By accident.
While in New York for a 10-week internship, I immersed myself in the city’s culture through scrappy pickup basketball. I quickly learned that New Yorkers can hoop and turned those moments into mixtapes.
My only intention was to document my NY experience. However, the process of driving basketball conversations captivated me, and I became invested in the stories & people behind each video.
What makes it special?
The relatability.
Regular Hoops is not centered around elite athletes or legacy sport organizations. Rather, it’s shaped by regular basketball players (aka Regular Hoopers).
Students are Regular Hoopers. Corporate executives are Regular Hoopers. Even celebrities are Regular Hoopers. This is an opportunity to connect basketball fans globally — 99.99% of whom are Regular Hoopers.
What defines a Regular Hooper?
Someone you run into while playing pickup basketball… but that’s up for debate.
Game Time
So… what do you think? Are you a Regular Hooper?
